This course provides a general introduction to social/cultural anthropology (a general survey of the field, with a concentration on the comparative analysis of culture, using examples from different societies around the world); anthropological linguistics (focussing on the origin, structure, distribution and social/cultural aspects of human languages) and applied anthropology (the identification and resolution of practical problems via anthropological methods). (lec 3) cr 3. Students may not retain credit for both ANTR 1007 and ANTR 1005.
