Alain Gauthier (Ph.D.) is an Assistant Professor with the School Human Kinetics at Laurentian University. He received his doctoral and undergraduate degrees from Laurentian University, and his master's degree from the University of Ottawa. Dr. Gauthier's is primarily interested in health promotion and chronic disease prevention. He currently teaches courses in Human Anatomy and Community Health/Health Education.

Research Focus
Dr. Gauthier's research interests revolve around measuring and monitoring health behaviours as a means of informing evidence-based practice. He is primarily interested in physical activity, nutrition, and tobacco related research. He is committed to informing the development of health promotion initiatives aimed at vulnerable populations; including children, men, and sociolinguistic minorities. Some of his work has been published in the Journal of School Health, the Journal of Physical Activity and Health, Health Promotion Practice; and the Canadian Family Physician. He is currently leading projects in the area of a) the impact of classroom scheduling on physical activity and food consumption, b) consumption of tobacco and the influence of non-smoking policies in post-secondary institutions, and c) access to, and quality of, French language health services in northern Ontario.
