I am a social worker with experience in diverse fields of practice, including counseling, administration, as well as teaching. Throughout my career I have explored the relationship between personal narratives and larger social constructions of identity as represented in social policy and other cultural discourses including fictional narratives.

Research Focus My research examines how social workers practice effectively with people who have disabilities that impair or preclude the construction of a self-narrative. This entails exploring the role that other types of fiction and nonfiction discourses may play in the construction of identity, social welfare issues, and our responses to them.
