Dr. Reuben Roth is an Assistant Professor in the Labour Studies program, which is housed in the new School of Northern Development (www.schoolofnortherndevelopment.com). His main areas of research include: the sociology of work and organizations, class identity & consciousness, unionization, education and work, workplace health & safety, and national/ethnic identities.
Dr. Roth has also written about the automotive industry, workplace violence, union education programs, and workers’ tacit and informally-acquired knowledge — areas often overlooked by policy-makers.
Dr. Roth is a former Senior Research Officer at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto - OISE/UT (1995-2002), a former Researcher and Project Manager for the Centre for the Study of Work and Society at York University (2002-04), adjunct professor of sociology at Trent University in Oshawa (2001-2005), and a speech writer at Queen’s Park during 1994-95.
