Dr. Dorman completed her Bachelor degree in Biology from Guelph University and her doctoral degree from McMaster University in Physiology/Pharmacology; specializing in the area of immunology and respiratory physiology.
Her teaching is in the area of Health Promotion and her primary research interests focus on health promotion and prevention of disease in two diverse populations:
1) occupational settings;
2) school age children. Dr. Dorman is the co-founder of the Laurentian University Nutrition and Physical Activity for Children's Health Group (LUNCH), a branch of Evaluating Children's Health Outcomes (ECHO) and is also the Health and Safety Liaison and executive member of the Center for Research in Occupational Health and Safety (CROSH).

Research Focus
Research interests are Health Promotion and Disease Prevention.
Ongoing projects in Dr. Dorman's laboratory include:
1. developing a resource guide exploring reproductive hazards for male and female workers in the mining environment;
2. examining energy expenditure and nutrient needs understand stressful mental and physical occupations
3. examining school schedule in relation to nutrient needs
Major contributions to research have included:
1. Progenitor cell migrational responsiveness in allergic asthma and in situ differentiation.
2. development of method to implement the use of sputum assessment in rural and occupational settings.
3. Development of a method to examine respiratory changes induced by inhalation of Diesel Particulate matter
