College Transfer Applicants

Students who have completed at least one year of college studies may be eligible for admission to programs offered at Laurentian University.

General Admission Requirements

Applicants must complete a minimum of one year of college studies and be in good academic standing with an overall average of 65% to be considered for admission. 

Applicants holding an advanced diploma, from a recognized College of Applied Arts and Technology, or a university degree and have completed a Postgraduate Certificate with a final GPA of 75% or higher may receive up to 12 additional transfer credits.*

*Additional credits will be dependent on program requirements and may not be applicable.

College diplomas, degrees and other post-secondary accomplishments will be considered on an individual basis, to ensure that students transferring to Laurentian are given the maximum value for their credits. To help you make the most of your previous educational experience, we have transfer policies and articulation agreements with other institutions. These agreements are designed to provide better student mobility among the partners through formal recognition of credits/programs at each institution. 

For students who have completed a two or three-year diploma at a College of Applied Arts and Technology, Laurentian has many pathway agreements designed to enhance student mobility. If there is not a pathway agreement for your program, Laurentian offers admission with advanced standing as indicated in our credit transfer chart below.

University Degree   

In order to obtain your degree, you will need to successfully complete:

  • 3-year degree: requires a minimum of 90 credits
  • 4-year degree: requires a minimum of 120 credits

In general, a 3 credit course is one semester in duration and a 6 credit course is two semesters in duration.

To qualify for full time status: enrolment in 18 to 30 credits per academic year is required.

To qualify for part time status: enrolment in a minimum of 3 credits to a maximum of 15 credits in an academic year*

*Academic year : September to April
